Additional Cash Back Credit Card Resources

The cash back credit card category is one of the top genres of reward cards available. These cards usually offer instant cash rewards or rebate incentives on a per dollar spent basis, but can also make use of a point system that allows for the redemption of a set number of points for cash or cash-like gift certificates. Cash back cards are best suited for individuals that make large purchases, thus allowing for maximum rebate rewards on a per transaction basis. Be aware that most cash rebate cards have slightly higher interest rates than those of other rewards credit cards; this means carrying a balance with one of these cards can be more costly than necessary if you’re not paying the credit card’s balance every month.

One of the largest determining factors for a good cash back card is the manner in which you accrue cash back bonuses. The most common system is a percentage of your total purchase (usually 1% to 2%+) though this may be altered slightly to reward certain types of purchases more than others. Some cards also have a monthly or annual cap on the amount of rebates that can be accumulated, so if you’re a big spender or your spending pattern fluctuates from month to month be sure to pick a cash incentive program that matches your spending habits.

Please see our article library on the right for additional resources relevant to the cash back credit card selection process.
